Did You Know That Arm and Leg Pain May Stem From Your Spine?
If you suffer from arm and/or leg pain it can, on occasion, be linked back to the spine as the cause.
The Spine Serves Your Extremities
Your body is one big system of nerves, tissues, muscles, tendons and ligaments. And the spine is similar to an old fashioned phone system. Messages are sent from the brain to the spinal nerves and to whatever organ system or muscle and joint that it supplies and messages are also sent from the extremities and core back to the brain. Therefore, if you get a pinched nerve in your neck, it can lead to pain, numbness, and weakness in your arm and hand. Likewise, for your lower back – an irritated nerve in this region can produce similar symptoms in the leg and foot.
Symptoms such as numbness, soreness, and immobility in the arms and legs are due to irritated and compressed nerves exiting the spine which can be a result of: a herniated or bulging disc (s), taut muscle, or, in the case of arthritis; an overgrowth of bone where the nerve exits.
We Can Help You Find The Cause of Your Pain:
There is a multitude of reasons for your pain, but at Eastside Chiropractic Center, Inc., a chiropractor can help you determine the root cause of your arm and leg pain rather than masking the pain with medication, possibly resulting in more damage to the involved area since an absence of pain gives you a false sense of security and you then tend to do more which aggravates the area further.
Chiropractic care restores mobility to the involved areas allowing for healing to take place and allowing you to resume a more active lifestyle.
