A Non-Invasive Approach to Treat Disc Problems Related to Back Pain

A common problem seen in our office are disc related issues.  Discs can either bulge or herniate (also called a ruptured disc).  Discs act as shock absorbers between each vertebrae and act to cushion forces produced when we do activity.  Aging can cause the disc to become worn and dry and trauma can cause the discs to undergo increased pressure.  Both can result in disc bulging or herniation.  A herniation or rupture results in the disc material being extruded into the spinal canal.

Sometimes people do not even realize the disc has been damaged, while other times it stems from a specific incident which causes the disc to produce symptoms. Disc pain in your back can be very painful.

Common symptoms of a bulging or herniated disc are:

  • Localized pain
  • Pain that radiates down an arm or leg
  • Numbness
  • Muscle Weakness
  • Burning/Tingling
